Chipping Campden Railway Station C1900 (via Wikimedia Commons - PD-US-expired)
Opened in 1853, the station was originally called "Mickleton", but was subsequently changed to "Campden" (the village of Chipping Campden being somewhat closer to the station than Mickleton), before finally becoming "Chipping Campden" (probably to avoid confusion with other similarly named stations) in 1952. The station was sited to the southeast of the village, at the top of Campden Bank and just south of the tunnel. The station had both passenger and freight facilities, particularly for a gas works at the south end of the station, although this traffic ceased in 1936 when the works closed.
The station closed in 1966, and the line singled in 1971. Although there have been calls for it to be re-opened (as per Honeybourne), in part due to subsequent expansion of the village, there are no firm plans at present (the redoubling of the line in 2011 would probably remove any excuse of "pathing issues"), although provision has been made for this if required in the future.
