Redditch has had four railway stations, although the fourth is perhaps more of a rebuild of the third. The first station was opened in 1859, with the opening of the Redditch Railway from Barnt Green, and was sited north of Bromsgrove Road. With the opening of the line southwards to Evesham, the original station was closed, and a new one south of Bromsgrove Road was opened to replace it (pictured above), although the goods facilities remained on the north side. Just south of the station, the line entered Redditch Tunnel, the only tunnel on the line.
With the closure of the line south of Redditch, the station site was moved back north of Bromsgrove Road in 1972, and a bus station was built on the southern site. The current iteration of the station was opened in 1993.
